The UNDP office in Kazakhstan is part of the United Nations system of agencies, funds and programmes in Kazakhstan. All UN organisations supporting Kazakhstan work under the auspices of the 2021-2025 Sustainable Development Cooperation Agreement between Kazakhstan and the UN. The agreement is a set of mutually agreed priorities, on which the UN system in Kazakhstan is focusing its resources. UNDP began operations in Kazakhstan in 1992 under the Standard Basic Assistance Agreement. THE COMPETENCE OF UNDP in Kazakhstan is defined by the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation (2010-2014) in a new phase of national development of 25 November 2009, according to which UNDP must “support and complement the country`s efforts to address important economic development issues and promote social progress and improve the standard of living of the population”.
